About Me

A sketch of the cartoon character Fievel wearing a keffiyeh

Hi, I’m Fievel Crane. I’m a queer, trans, anarchist, non-binary, radio host, podcaster, poet, and fomenter of unrest. I’m from Lenox, MA; spent a lot of time around Rochester, NY; and have moved dozens of times all over the US and Japan. I live in Charlottesville, VA, where I manage a local indie rock station and host its morning show.

Thus far I’ve been a grocery store stock clerk and cashier; a factory worker; a shipping and receiving clerk; a bank teller; a waiter; a musician; a radio DJ; a copy editor; a radio reporter; a TV news script writer; a newspaper copy editor; a wire service editor; a union organizer; a school communications specialist; the executive director of a bicycling non-profit; a podcaster; a homeless traveler; a van lifer; a municipal office worker; a church secretary; a stand-up comedian; and a freelance writer. Many of those multiple times. I have two kids and they’re fabulous. I have one cat and he’s a menace, but I love him.

You can listen to my podcasts at thejazzsession.com and abriefchat.com. You’ll find me on social media at @fievel42 on Instagram.
